Membership

How Can You Become a Member?

We are glad you are interested in finding out more information about church membership! In every request for membership at First Baptist Church Clarendon, the person seeking membership meets with a member of the pastoral staff. This meeting is to ensure the appropriate method of joining the church is being pursued, to ensure that the candidate understands the vision of the church, and to explain what is expected of members. Membership in a church doesn’t save you or get you into heaven; it DOES give you fellowship and a way to service in the body of Christ for your good and Jesus glory!

There are three ways you can become a member of First Baptist Clarendon:

Confession of Faith and Baptism

When you have believed that Jesus died for your sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures; and when you have confessed that Jesus is the Lord of your life, then you need to make your faith in Christ known. After you make this heart confession in Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life, you should obey Jesus' command to be baptized by water immersion (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 10:9-10; 6:4). Upon your public confession of faith and baptism, you become a member of our church!

Transfer of Letter

If you have already made a confession of faith in the Lord Jesus, have been baptized by water immersion, and are currently a member of another church of like faith and order, you can request that your membership be moved from your current church home to First Baptist Church Clarendon.
